Folks, these are Larry's basses. All that matters is whether or not HE likes the finishes. It's pretty safe to say he's not concerned about resale value.

Yeah, good point. I guess I was referring to those who said the finish was "worthless", but obviously I didn't make that distinction in my post.



FWIW I love relics, even the faux ones (when executed well). Larry's torched basses are a little too much for my taste, but he gets kudos from me for doing something different.

I've got a practical question here, I rest my forearm on the front and over the side, especially when I'm sitting. Is it smooth or rough? Would it scratch up my forearm after playing for a few hours?

Hey Larry, just made a quick trip from Ca to NYC, the highlight of which was taking a hike over to the store where I could pay homage to the Scorched Precision. I have to say that after seeing it in person I am compelled to call for an end to the burnt-bass-as-art debate. I would now like to formally announce the beginning of the burnt-bass-as-cultural-icon debate. To that end, I from this time forward am referring to my recent trip as a 'pilgrimage' and only in those semi hushed tones I have previously reserved for describing Graceland.

I really like that blend and contrast of CAR, brown/black and plain wood.

A local shop had a Rick guitar which had been in a fire. I really wanted it, but the owner was asking $1000 for a burned but playable guitar. Cool (hot?) isn't worth that much money and that much wrath from the household powers.

From a purely "looks" standpoint I actually dig it and it looks pretty cool. Of course with me I am more so about the tone and play ability of a bass so I do hope it sounds great.
