It's all a matter of what you are trying to achieve. A Jazz bass with rounds is one thing. A jazz bass with flats is another. For years I played a Jazz bass with rounds and I was always fiddling with my amp trying to get the sound I heard in my head. Then I switched to a P bass with a Jazz bass neck and Labella LTF strings. This was much closer to the sound I wanted. I tried the LTF's on my Jazz and it wasn't quite right, but everybody knows that the bass picks the strings...right? I ended up with some Chromes on my Jazz bass and I really like the way it sounds.
