Flea is to the 90's what Nikki Suxx is to the 80's.

Nikki Sixx was apparently torture to recording engineers because he was so bad. Mick Mars ended recording the basslines a few times.

Flea is not that, plus Flea has been playing bass professionally since about 1980 and was always better than Nikki Sixx.

That's the way you get when you are forced to listen to common people's generally insufferable taste in what they perceive as being music.

Hard having fun at a party when you are under constant torture.

It's not without reason popular music is actually used as a form of torture.

Common people eh? Art thou royalty?

Many fringe bands credit pop acts as influences. Popularity is not the rubric by which music should be judged. Jamerson is a god and is probably one the most heard musicians ever. Should we stop listening to Motown because its popular?

Flea is underrated, he has much more to offer than the RHCP if you care to find out. If you don't want to be proven wrong, thats your problem, he has been a part of some great projects. There's a record out there by Cheikha Rimitti that feature Flea and Robert Fripp. If he can be on the same record as Fripp, I'd say hes pretty cool.I would hardly consider The Mars Volta pop, and he slays on that first record.

Not to mention that many bassists in the world consider him their first influence before moving on to other inspirations. No one expects beginners to know anything about music that isn't pop, its usually the earliest stuff you hear. No one is born with a King Crimson album under their arm, you have to start somewhere. Its not so bad to be accessible and influential. Who are you?
