After selling one of my Flea basses I decided to give the other one a fresh new look. I think the carbon fiber pattern pick guard and black hardware accentuate the gold flake nicely.

After selling one of my Flea basses I decided to give the other one a fresh new look. I think the carbon fiber pattern pick guard and black hardware accentuate the gold flake nicely.

It's funny you say that. I bought that bass to go play vegas with in 1998.All I can say is.........VEGAS

It stayed my main bass up until about 2 years ago, even after I came back to CT for good.
It has that vagas vibe.That makes me wanna go buy one of those. Looks Groovy Baaby... How bout a set of DR Black Beauties to finish her off??
Where did you get the carbon fiber pickguard? I have a black FB5 that would look great with one of those.

Well To be perfectly honest, I wanted a Black Pearl Pickguard, which I believe would look excellent also, but I've been spending money like a politician lately and I can't justify $100 bucks for a custom WD pickguard.
So here's what I did, My buddy has a selection of killer high quality vinyl sheets from a sign shop with sticky back. I thought the Carbon Fiber pattern would look techie so I simply took one of the Vinyl Sticky sheets and applied it to the original Pearl Pick guard.
I then carefully trimmed the edges around using an exacto #11 hobby knife. So if It gets worn I can redo it like new Or put it back to original at any time.
BTW It really looks much better in person
The vinyl sticky back is great for trying different looks on a pick guard. Sign shops have all kinds of that stuff to try.
