Double Bass flexocor deluxe strings

Careful, Peck. Sam may be a bigger string whore than I am, which is something.

You're too kind

Have you read the thread?

Yes I did. Maybe I wasn't clear. my vote would be to stick with the Spiros on the E and the A with the flex d and g if you're doing pizz. I enjoyed that combo and its the best "hybrid set" i've tried. For pizz I didn't enjoy the A string but I never did have an A on MY bass (just the d/g). On one of the basses in the LPO it had flex deluxe adg and a spiro E. I liked playing that pizz for every string but the A which was quite dull compared to the spiro E and the flex D and G.

I got you on the second read, Sam (stick with the Spiros on the bottom).

Your LPO friend is using the flex deluxe A on his bass because he’s playing mostly orchestra music with it?

Yeah he's second chair. I think he was trying them out. He's the local luiter and I ordered my D and G through him. I think he wanted to try them as well on his new bass so ordered himself some too. He just plays orchestral/solo music. No jazz gigs. What he said of them was "They are nice but they're really bright in the section. I may have to go back to belcantos."
