Double Bass FLEXOCOR ORIGINAL HISS?

I'm curious if anyone else had or has any issues with a "hiss" when using flexocor originals? I change to permanents and the issue seems to go away. I imagine this is caused by bow hair vibrating and causing a "sizzle." I experiemented with changing bow tension and it doesn't change much.
Bow might need a rehair, but still, I've noticed a certain hiss when using flexocor originals, which I only use on the G and D.

Personally, the flexocors feel great, sound good in a section... the issue is mainly when I play alone. There was a comment recieved from an audition, which I still ended up doing well in.
Any insight or ideas? lemme know.

When I was working on my orchestral lit in college, I used original flex a and d. I probably used about 5 of each over my schooling and I never noticed a "hiss." I thought the g was a bit harsh so I used a flex 92 instead. Is the hiss coming from both the g and d? Maybe it's just a faulty pair :hmm: Were you using the same rosin with both the orig. flex and the perms? Maybe a smoother sounding rosin like Jade or some cello rosin could help.

thanks for the comment. no faulty pair. good strings... good rosins... Cello rosin just won't cut it for orchestra. I've been using kolstein soft and oak rosin. I might try pops or nymans.

i don't like the 92's. they just don't work on the bass i'm using now.

yeah... the flex G can be harish on a lot of basses, but for some reason they usually end up working on old darkish italian basses.
