Flight Simulators

Now, some people do the transatlantic flights.. 8+ hours.. I dont understand how they do that..

Yeah, Plus you can try to do some tricks with smaller aircraft and stuff...

Transatlantic flights you can do if you get the plane to altitude you want and then put it on auto pilot + speed up the speed of game 10x.

Ohh, the diehards don't do that.. Especially if you are using live ATC.. 8+ hours sitting in front of the computer playing FS is a bit much.

I have Flight Sim 2004 with 3 add ons that i really like. I added the SR71,the bush pilots adventure add on,and a military aircraft add on.The SR is a real blast. Cruise at about 80,000,ground speed of mach 3.3,indicated air speed of around 225. I have had it up to 105k feet, but it's not real stable at that altitude. At altitude the fuel consumption is really low. I used to do little 1 hour flights starting with a full fuel load, and by the time I got to my destination,I couldn't slow down enough because of the weight of the extra fuel.Once I did a flight from Eglin AFB to McDill AFB,and wound up overshooting Tampa, finally slowing down over Orlando. No flaps or speedbrakes,so you have to start your descent early.PC Aviator has lots of flight sim add ons.Check them out. I have the new Flight sim on the way.Looks great! Anybody interested in online combat with CFS2 or 3?

i have been a big fan of flight sims since flight sim 4 on the mac, and i have had every version that came out since...i tried out the newest FS (i think its X) at EAA airventure earlier this year, and it really blows away all the past FSs...I also have been giving serious thought to X-Plane, as i have seen that at past airventures and have been nothing but impressed at that program--and the creator is a nice guy too :)

I've never played one of these, but what's so alluring about them? Is it the delicate controls you have to use in order to take off/land correctly? The scenery as you fly by? Or am I right in thinking everybody just finds the best places to crash them for fun?

Blowing stuff up is fun.

Here are some more shots from IL2...

First pass, getting a little cloudy in there...

Second pass, dead.

He's in the water, and I'm in the Cosair. He made a run for home, so I took some wing damage from the AA guns.
