Double Bass Flite Cabs on Upright?

I'm considering taking this off of my former teacher's hands. But I really want to invest in a rig that will make me really happy for a long time (translates to satisfying my GAS). Has anyone heard anyone playing through these? What do you think?

Some background: I'm playing in New York and am looking for a light rig to lug around with me on the subway (via amp in a custom backpack and the bass on a bass buggie) in the event that I need to be louder than usual and there isn't a rig supplied.

Which model Flite Sound cab is your former teacher selling? I've read that Ron Carter uses / used a Flite Sound 1x12 cab, but I haven't actually seen him doing so. There are also several Flite Sound related threads in the archives: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/search.php?searchid=5470087

Mine is great. Great NYC cab if you want to use a piggy back setup. I've gone back to using a combo amp most of the time to save hassle setting up and breaking down, but for a long time I was using a Walter Woods head with the Flite 1x12 (no tweeter or horn) and it was really good. It isn't as full range as something like an Epifani, but 90% of the time it was great. For portability it's hard to beat. Weighs so little you can pick it up and wave it around over your head with one hand. A great value.

Nate Peck uses a 1-12 ith an AI head, gets a great sound. Another alternative wold be the GK MBX 112 extension cabinet. It's 12 pounds.

Actually it's not 12 pounds. It's false advertising or some mistake in the spec that has been reproduced everywhere. I tried one out and after picking it up I knew it wasn't 12 pounds so I weighed it and sure enough it is over 17.5 pounds. You can read about it in this thread.

picked up a used mb150 instead. i'm juggling with the idea of using the flite as an extension for high volume gigs.

For my 5 string upright I've been using a Flite 112 with Bag End inside powered by a twenty-year-old GK MB 200 (which will and does occasionally alternatively run very comfortably a Peavy box with an 18" BW when I need to dominate). Great sound, and not a big deal to set up, but the GK alone is a better choice for traveling the subway. I've also heard and loved Woods powering Flite/Bag End, very transportable.
