Is it still possible to order a Fodera with the Bartolini pickups or is it Duncan / Aero only now? The last new Foderas I saw with Barts were around 2001 I think. Do you have any plans to offer Nordstrand pickups as well? Not my taste but I know some people love them.

new fodera 6-string came in fedex today . . .

been waiting for this for a while. very pleased so far. it's gotta get used to being in cali and my peculiar way of doing things.


fretless maple fingerboard, zebra top walnut body, rick turner pickups (replacing original emgsfrom 85), older haz labs pre.

basic idea was to match a fretted fodera 6-string of mine from 1985.

they did a smashing job.

big thanks to vinny and joey for killer work, and to jason for righting the ship and seeing this through. and to all for having me drive them crazy on the specs on this thing.

new bass is on the left, old bass is on the right.

Absolutely on both accounts. We are a custom shop and we do what ya'll want. That said, I am not personally sure if we have ever done a bass with Norstrands, but we still do get the occasional request for Barts...

That looks like a compact version of the kid's bass that I've seen every week in class at school. His has the wide spacing at the bridge though....fabulous bass.

it has been played—about 24 years' worth!

the new bass is really shaping up. it sounds great—pretty much like i thought it would—and the neck is *super comfy*. i have a somewhat idiosyncratic way i like stuff set up, so i'm currently tweaking it.

i gotta say, i have fodera basses from three different decades and the new stuff (assuming this is a good indication, which i think it should be) is *killing*.

secret sauce or whatever, these guys know what they're doing.

Please forget for a minute that I am now a partner at Fodera (if that is even possible), but if you check through all of my posts (not an easy task) including those from long before I even had an inkling that I might one day be a partner, I have said on multiple occasions that the best stuff that has ever come out of the Fodera Shop is happening right now (at least from the many Foderas that I have played and owned). I regularly play Foderas from 1984 to the present day and I think the best stuff they (now "we") have done is recent.

The woods are older an more seasoned, the guys are more experienced, the electronics are better (thanks Mike and David!), the PUPS have been refined, the finish process is a perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality and everyone in the shop is in a great mental space and TOTALLY into what they are doing.

+1 big time. I've had, in my hands, Fodera's from the late 80's and more recent basses. The older models are exceptional in their own right. However, the newer instruments are more precise, and there's a certain crispness (for lack of a better word) both aesthetically, and from a tonal standpoint that is simply unparalleled IMHO. I can't wait to see what these guys and Pope will unfold in the years to come.
