Thanks for the kind words. We are far, far, far from where we ultimately want to be business / operations wise, but we are moving forward every day and religiously keeping our promise of communicating regularly and honestly...as for the instruments? I really think that the shop is doing its finest work ever and let's just say that I placed a deposit on another build a month ago! Hopefully it will be ready by Christmas of 2011. Yes, even as owners we pay for our gear AND wait in line...

Another photoshop fun for myself to release the waiting pain. I use the picture that Tber - Thndrstk6 made for me as template and paste the real wood top I chose on it (of cos I'm not as skilled as he does)... Yummy Yummy! :bassist:

Saw mention earlier in this thread about the weight in pounds of a bass. I'm sure that this will draw much consternation, but for me, it's not about weight, it's about BALANCE. I own the Fodera on my profile pic (it's also on Fodera's website on the "Emperor" tab). It's the heaviest bass I own - but - it's also BY FAR the most comfortable gigging bass I own. It's perfectly balanced and sits just right on my frame. My Alembic is technically lighter but it's graphite neck tends to nose dive a bit which means that it feels like I'm fighting it a tad.

drbakker - sweet bass! Congrats and I wish you many, many years of making great music on it!!

Jus thumpin, Could you tell me character of Thick body (2" or 3")?

and Just curious.,Folks, What does FODERA prefer wood combination? What is representative of fodera?
Although he has used diverse wood combinations to tailor instruments to the requirements of his customer, I just want to know What FODERA likes or representative spec.
wood for body,fingerboard,heelblock and neck , and 3piece,5piece or 7piece neck, .....


Fodera is REALLY chameleon!!

Here's one example of what Vinny must like. It's the only bass he built for himself, according to his own specs, in the past 26 years:

I think the specs evolved a bit along the way. If you search the original thread and this one for "3000", you can find lots of pictures and descriptions of it. Vinny and the gang started work on it sometime early last year or maybe the year before that, and they just finished it a couple of months ago, squeezing in time for it in between all the custom work they were doing for their customers.

Interesting post. Thanks. I'm not sure how the rest of the bass world feels about it, but to me Fodera doing their own pickups now is a big deal, and would probably be a must have for me if I were ordering a new, custom Fodera today.

You say that as though it would be a negative thing to have them made by one of the big companies. If they sound the way you want them to and they are "exclusive", why does that distinction matter?
