Thanks all! I appreciate it. There is so much more to this story than me just getting a bass. It represents something greater to me and I cannot wait to play it. Now, I just have to wait till that darn first home buyer tax credit check gets here......

Yes, arguably the most perfect Monarch I have ever played. Feels killer, resonant as all get out and the E string sounds like a piano...UNREAL!

Beautiful bass. What fretboard and bodywood did you choose there?

These were not my specs, Vinny and Joey chose everything. The idea here was to memorialize the 3000th Fodera (it is Serial Number 3000). The very first Fodera Bass was a Mahogany Body with a Koa Top (Fodera Serial #2 -- BTW, Serial #1 was actually a Monarch Guitar!), so that is what #3000 has...

Overall the specs are:

1. One-piece, old-growth Mahogany Body chosen for tone;
2. Flamed Koa Top;
3. 3-piece hard maple neck (again, chosen for tone);
4. 100+ year old Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard (selected for tone);
5. Fodera / Pope electronics;
6. Fodera Vintage Dual Coil PUPS with Brazilian Rosewood Covers;
7. 9.0 pounds;
8. Abalone inlay around the fingerboard;
9. Lily inlay at 12th fret;
10. "MMM" (the Roman Numeral for 3,000) at the 24th fret.

So, all of these specs and individual pieces of wood were hand selected by Vinny and Joey with a degree of care that is beyond even their usual rigorous standards. In any situation where beauty conflicted with tone (i.e. one piece of wood looked better, but another sounded better), tone was the deciding factor.

The neck is a 3 piece, but they have to glue on the "ears" of the headstock. That is why you see 5 pieces. Since the wood for the 3 piece neck is not wide enough to accomodate the width of the headstock, they glue on ears to make it wide enough. Most, if not all builders do this on headstock of similar shapes to this.
