Hi!
It's an Ash body, buckeye burl, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, with Seymour Duncans DC, and semi-hollow for reduce the weight to 8,5lbs.
I can't stop playing it!
Doesn't backwood gain the weight? Any reason you choose backwood?

it looks like a 1-piece Ash back ? is that right ?
interessting to put an Ash back top on an Ash body...
This may not be true at all, but I'm guessing it's part of their process for chambering the body for reduced weight. They may do it from the back and then cap it.
I don't know why they do it in this way, we talked about reduce the weight ( I have back problems ), and before they finished the bass, I was asked about reduce more the weight. I think that they did the chambers from the back as say emjazz.
The bass sounds wonderful and plays very good, (and is it light)

Great looking bass! Can't wait to see some more photos when it's finished.
The MG6 is one of the absolute best looking bass designs ever.
A near perfect bass for my tastes....mahogany/ebony/60's pos pickups.....that's dead on....and that top is perfect in every way. Kudos to you my friend...you have very good taste. That's my favorite Fodera to date without even having heard it.
edit:...and yes, that is the same stuff that was on my old Nordstrand 6 string. Amazing looking wood....one of my very favorites.

When building the bass, we had selected light weight woods that we thought would get the bass to 8.5 pounds. However, after the initial carving was done we weighed the bass and determined that it would likely be over 9 pounds. At that point, with the top already on, the only option was to chamber it from the back and then add a back to cover the chambers. Since we were removing tone wood for the chambering, rather than doing a sonically inert back, we opted for a one-piece Ash back to "add back" some tonally active wood...

You are quite welcome...in terms of talking to Joey, the reality is that if there is ever a need for anyone to speak with Joey and Vinny, they remain very easily available. However, they are no longer the front line for customer inquiries so that they can be in the back using their unique skills to build instruments.
When I first became their friend and would hang at the shop (long before we were partners), it was amazing...they were spending well over half of their time each day on the phone with customers answering very routine questions - NOT unimportant questions, just routine...
Also, as many of you know, Joey and Vinny are two of the nicest people on the planet and once on the phone they LOVE to chat about almost anything. They are just very wonderful, sociable guys.
One of the ways we "squeezed" more hours out of each day and got the production schedule back on track was to limit Joey and Vinny's phone interaction to those calls that they are uniquely qualified to answer...this has worked wonders allowing Joey and Vinny to each spend a good 3 additional hours per day building while the rest of us can make sure that customers are (hopefully) being treated the way they should be and getting timely, quality answers to their questions.
BTW, once we were partners, Joey and Vinny practically begged for the phone issue to be one of the first things that we tackled. Even though they LOVED being on the phone with people, they realized that they were falling further and further behind on delivering the instruments they had promised...to some of the very same people that they would be talking to on the phone! LOL
