Great! Is this the Fodera that you were working on the ramp idea for?

Yeah, you don't actually see the pickups here- they'll be in radiused covers and there will be matching width ramps to fill in the rest of the space. That isn't made yet, obviously- they just wanted to double check the pickup placement.

I think Joey was afraid it wouldn't be warm enough without a neck pickup, but I don't use a neck pickup unless I have a tuning with a high F/E. I wanted a really clear, bright sound on this bass.

The warmer tone is for bass #2. :D

this is where mike pope's sliding p/up thing comes into play. i foresee a lot of people wanting it.

hell . . . i want one.

A question for Jason,

I looked at the latest price sheet and either missed it or it's not on there. Does the Viceroy line up with the other double cutaway body styles in regards to pricing? It seems like I remember you saying it would be the same as an Emperor but I'm not sure.

Yeah, it offers a lot of tonal options whether installed in the bridge or neck position. It's too much complication for me, though, and I usually like gadgets. It would have given me some options, as I love the idea of getting to choose between 60's-70's positions, but I like 60's and I don't mess with things much.

Now make me one that can go between mid position and far neck? Then we're talking, haha.

Glenn is very cool to work with. He convinced me to get mahogany for the body wood, which I am very happy with. I saw that he bought 3 of the 1-10 serial-numbered Yin Yang Standards by the way.

i mentioned this very thing to joey at namm. seems like it's completely doable and i think it would be great. he saw that as being viable as well. i'm not always a fan of the front pickup placement—sometimes sounds too "throaty" to me . . . so i can imagine having the moveable gizmo for the front pickup.

as i was fantasizing about this today, i was considering having moveable pickups for both front and back . . . might develop options anxiety, but it could be insane, too.

That is real cool !!! I bet this is sth. Jason brought in..... I wish they would have done that three years back when they've finished my Imperial (but at that times they hardly answered any mail) :bawl:

Because I'm not happy with the placement of my bridge PU (it's sth. between a 60ies and a 70ies)

Wow!!! finally, this is exactly how I want my mg6 top wood look like.....can't wait to see it complete!

Angus --

Based on a conversation that I had with Glenn at 4:30 pm EST, we are moving the neck PUP to be about one inch away from the bridge PUP to allow for a ramp between the two pups. With the Tom Kennedy type spacing, there is no way to get a ramp in there...I hope this is correct because he gave us the go ahead to proceed with that...please advise!!

It is listed at the end of the custom instrument section under the Signature Models. At present, the Viceroy is only available as an entire package...like Mike Pope's. Later this year (or early next), we may start allowing the body shape and / or sliding bridge PUP to be used as individual options...remember, as awesome as Mike's bass is, it is only the first prototype and we need to learn from it over a period of several months of feedback from Mike before we start making decisions about what to keep and what to change. We already have two more scheduled to be built over the next 6 months. Obviously the early feedback is HUGELY positive, but we still need some time....
