Fodera Club Part VI

I was in New York in January, and I found out that Esperanza Spalding was going to be performing at the Village Vanguard with Joe Levano on the night that was flying home! Tried to change my flight to stay another night so I could go see them, but it cost too much (hooray for American Airlines) so I didn't get to see her perform. It was a bummer for sure. I'm stoked that she won though!

You can clearly hear the differentce between the two pickup position even with this poor video quality very well. This is actually a very cool feature!

That fact isn't lost on me. I was thrilled it was so easy to hear, actually. I even said before I played that I didn't know if it would come across. But it did. It's even more dramatic when you can hear the low end too.
That said, I wouldn't have asked to have a huge hole cut in my bass or spent the large sum of money having the movable tray designed if it wasn't for a really good reason. It's a great feature!

I have a question for Jason and the gang. Sorry if it has been covered already but why are you not offering the AJ6 doublecut any longer?

I just like bolt-ons. Plus, the tweaker in me likes to know that a significant change wouldn't require a whole new bass. Not that I'm wanting to change anything.
Plus, the Viceroy is already $12,650 list. If it were a neck-through with a solid top, I believe it would be even more.

From a price point, a bolt-on makes good sense. If you take the difference between an Elite and a bolt-on + the solid top up-charge, the list on an Elite Viceroy would be $14,900 or something in that range.
I have an Emperor Deluxe 5 with a Mahogany body/Koa top due this September. Last we spoke about it, Jason wasn't sure if the sliding pick-up mechanism would be ready for production by then. Any updates on that Mike? Also, I love my wood p-up covers. Will it work with both plastic and wood?

We have definitely made the decision to not offer the sliding PUP on anything other than the Viceroy for at least the remainder of 2011...

So as you see above, Jason and co. have decided they don't want to offer the sliding PU on anything other than the Viceroy. That said, the sliding pu assembly has only been made so far for the plastic 5 string and narrow 6 string covers. However anything CAN be done. I think the future is going to dictate what versions are considered for production.
