steu- YEAH, actually i'll be in LA within the month, maybe we could grab a quick coffehouse 2-bass hang or such? or throw together a session? it would be a great pleasure to get that trio started. i'll get in touch with tom this week as well.
Thanks Dan, the Illuminati Orchestra is rebooting in NYC and will be gigging/recording soon again. i'll keep ya posted!

I was at the fodera shop today and they had an ash bodied / maple fretboard imperial 5 for sale that's Marcus Miller-ish, it was pretty sick.

holy crap, I'm a slow bugger... I just made the connection as well.

I was just listening to JG's version of Crazy Fingers and that whole live album earlier last month, that midi solo is unreal. Was that done with that AJ?

that bass solo in Crazy Fingers is my transcription of Garcia's tremendous solo on the studio version, from the Dead's "Blues for Allah' album. i chose a sort of "hotel society orchestra" vibe for the arrangement, and that solo fits like a glove- Garcia's love of Django and Willie Nelson is channeled heavily, and i think it's one of his very best studio solos. ** and no, weirdly enough, that's not MIDI- it's the bass in unison with a cheap Casio keyboard's "whistle" setting... we had each other's nuances down, and the blend is what's heard. That whole CD was recorded live at the knitting factory.

Illuminati's re-boot gig will be in december, at brooklyn bowl- we haven't played in almost 9 years, and i'm planning to get the band very much back on the scene, playing my originals and arrangements and dead stuff etc etc. i'll keep you posted here or FB if that's ok.

.. from the cozmic wish-list--- this would my next Fodera!! man o man, i stare at this picture every night... it just speaks to me. it would be a great companion for Grail. well, as they say.. all things in time!! peace jg
