She's a real beauty in so many ways. Visually stunning of course. Jason, Carl and I are very fortunate to own one of the best ever Olive tops to grace the Fodera shop.

The playability is perfect with 17.5mm spacing and it's thin/fast neck. Kudos to Fodera for offering the new 17.5mm bridge for those of us that don't have extended length fingers.

The build quality is incredible! Need I say anymore.

All in all, a lovely tribute to both of my wonderful mothers. They would be very proud to be associated with such a splendid bass.

Thanks to everyone in the Fodera shop!

Oooh.. You get to choose some sweet woods. I hope Dave (The Bloodhound) found some more of Vinnie's secret stash of presentation tops. Sorry for the faux pas regarding the "Natural Light" pic of Olive II, Looks like every light in the workshop is on full blast, I'd better get to spec savers

Looking forward to seeing your build pics, who knows, you could sitting at No 1. of the SmugMug chart very soon..

SmugMug...I like that.

yes, I'm the one who has all the nice Lefty Foderas :) - since Joey told me some years ago that they have not made more than 20 leftys at that time - I was the owner of 10% of the world-wide Fodera lefty stock ;)

Have you ever tried the Jimmy Haslip thing, you know, right handed bass turned upside-down and strung high to low, that blows me away every-time and Mr Haslip's a fantastic player at that. Manufacturers don't really cater wholeheartedly for the left-handed community. I mean they just brought out the first lefty camcorder not too long ago.

Easy...

yes we are living in a unbelivable anti-lefthanded world. It's good to see that more and more Bass companys realized that a Lefty should not pay extra ... but some don't ;)
But I do a lot of stuff also with my right hand - so I would not need the lefty camcorder :smug:

There is some sort of bias against left handed people in society. But I don't buy into it. I'm really careful not to use generalizations like that. Heck, my right hand man is left handed.

Seriously, though, I think it goes back to the whole, "seated at the right hand of God" thing. In Italian, for example, "left" is "sinistra" which has roots somwhere related to "sinister" and right is "destra" which can be translated "right hand".

I started playing guitar a little before the internet, which is slightly depressing. I'm a lefty, but my local shops said it's possible to play a right handed guitar and learn since it's about as awkward either way when starting out. They told me they could order one, but I'd be paying up front and there were no returns. It worked out for me and I'm glad since several things I really dig were never available lefty.

That being said, I did pick up a left handed pill counting tray because it was impossible for me the other way.

I'm left handed too and initially started playing sitting down with the bass flipped upside down, but then I decided to just play the thing right handed.

I'm very glad too -- I love that my dominate hand is my fretting hand.

Looking at it that way, it seems like you actually own 10% of the RIGHT handed stock, and that everyone is playing the wrong bass! :D:bassist:

Angus your so right. Take a pen in your right-hand and your bound to see the manufacturers logo or some other slogan legible from L-R. Take the pen in your left-hand and logo's etc are upside-down & back to front.

The Pontif's gotta point in that you ought not to buy into it, but there still exists a culture whereby left-handed individuals are stigmatised. I attended a Roman Catholic school for 2 years at aged 10 and can recall classmates being shamed by tutors for picking up a pen with the left-hand.
It was a weird experience..
