Thanks man. Yes, it is an amazing instrument. To this day, it is the best bass I have ever touched -- and those who know me know that is saying a lot. I've also played a bunch of Presentations over the years and while everyone is wonderful, this one is just magical in every way. I'm pretty blessed to own it.

First time on TB in like a week...wow, I think that I actually went through withdrawal! Anyway, finally set up the computer in the new house and voila...a new Fodera thread!! I hope everyone had a GREAT Thanksgiving...

OMG, I totally forgot how AWFUL moving is...it has been 14 years since I last moved and man, was it brutal. Of course in a couple more months it will all be a memory and we will be left with a new, wonderful home to live in for many years...

I know this has been asked before, but it's really hard to search for and a lot of threads to sift through.

What kind of amp and cabinet setup are you guys running your Foderas through?


The only amp I have at the moment is a Marshall Lemmy Superbass which I'm running into a Bergantino NV610. The tone is God like with my passive Fenders, but I don't think it's the best setup for active EMGs with an onboard preamp. I also have an Epifani UL-112, so I'm trying to find a good amp to go with it for a more modern sounding rig.

I've been thinking about the Genz-Benz Streamliner, since I found a super good deal on a brand new one, but some of the reviews of a flabby low end are turning me off.


I also posted this in the amps section, so feel free to post in either one.

I personally run an Walter Woods Blue Light into an Epifani ULII 4x10. At the shop we use the same head going into an Epifani 2x10 -- that's also Joey's personal rig.

I owned a Streamliner but didn't have the YYS at that point (I did however have the AmDlxP which is an active PJ setup, though clearly not the same as EMG/Pope). I would never describe the Streamliner as "modern sounding" - if anything it is really tipped towards the older school sound. In fact one reason I eventually moved on was my inability to get rid of the significant low/mid wool that head is voiced with.

My current "first call" setup is an Aguilar TH500 head through one (or two) Bergantino AE210 cabs. I like the mid-forward voicing on the TH500, but between the amp and on-board eq I can push the sound around a fair amount. I still wouldn't consider that really modern though. My backup amp is a GB Shuttle 9.0 and that is closer to what I'd consider a "hi fi" sound - more open than the TH500 in the mids and more air up top.

imho the Streamliner + P-bass is a great combo if you want a warm/thick sound...but I don't find the YYS to be a typical P-bass. I can get a great round straightahead jazz tone out of it but that isn't what I find to be the inherent vibe of the instrument and I like a bit less voiced head than the Streamliner. But again, depends on the style(s) of music you're playing and personal preference.

Sweet, thanks for the info guys! It sounds like y'all really go for the amps with excellent clarity.

I'm probably, for the first time in my life, actually take the Yin Yang and my Ul-112 around and try out some amps. I may jump on the Streamliner and just sell it if I don't like it. The price I found it for new is close to what they sell for used, so I wouldn't really lose anything.

On the other hand, the Shuttles do seem like they may be a better match. I've also been debating rapidly depleting my bank account and pick up the TD-1 in the classifieds and run it into a nice power amp; if I'm really feeling masochistic I could always pick up a Berg IP.
