I almost bought that bass when a store had it in stock. It looks amazing.

Trouble is three pickups don't really work that well. I had it on a Benavente in a slightly different configuration to that, and if only one or two pickups were on, something about it never seemed to sound like it would if the third pickup wasn't there. Three pickups all on at once was awful.

I think I remember Jason saying something to the same affect years ago- that it doesn't quite pan out as awesome as it seems it should.

Anyone know what bass strap this is? I like it

There will be one new Standard model, a set of 4-6 "reissue" instruments related to the 30th anniversary and then just three (3) full-blown 30th anniversary instruments that will be 100% based on Vinny's personal inspirations. For these three, customers will be able to spec the tone wood combos, body shape and scale length...everything else will be up to Vin...

Don't you think there'll be an n anniverary bass as well?
Just another "standard" bass and nothing else would be a little weak to celebrate such an occasion. No? :)

sounds great Jason.

How can we imagine this ? The customer can say : I want to have an Emperor II with a Walnut body and an Ebony fingerboard, 34" and then Vinny does the rest like picking tops, inlays etc. ???

P.s. : As for the new standart I vote for a Bona Standart since there are sooo many Bona's in the Newborns and you do have done the standart line to feature the most requested models in a more affordable way.... :smug:;)

Bona standard would be cool, but I think they should go for the Randy Coven explorer standard. Sales would be huge.

On a more serious note, does anyone know if Tom Kennedy uses the neck pickup on his ES5? Different position to his signature bass but I heard that even with the two pickups close together on the signature he rolls the neck pup all the way off.
