Fodera Club Part XIII

Hey All,
Just got in my E5S this week. So far I've played it for about ten hours after I put on a set of DR HiBeams and a fresh setup (thanks to the FedEx man).

The irony is that i planned on having an Emperor 5 built with these exact specs (well with black hardware) later this fall. I was so pleased when I spoke to Donovan at Fretspot.com and he told me about the E5S! BTW Donovan is a wonderful person to deal with and he is very committed to customer satisfaction. Very highly recommended.

Quick thoughts... Felt like I've owned and played this bass for a lifetime. Sound wise, the E5S captures every sound I've ever loved in a Fender or Musicman, but with a richness and clarity I haven't found in the many basses I've owned. I hear a Fodera when I play it, but the ability to nail such classic tones is rather impressive.

Effortless playability
Gorgeous craftsmanship

I wish I had a matching head stock cap in this price range, but meh, I'm still blown away by the important stuff.

Beautiful work Fodera. I'll post up some sound clips later this week.

No - even better - we drove the Pope concept to the maximum :

my Viceroy will feature two moveable Pickups and a full removable fretboard (the fretboard is hold with magnets) - so I will have two extra fretboards with me on a gig to choose from - I can switch between Pao Ferro, Birdseye Maple and Ebony

Edit : Each Pickup will have it's own Pope 3 band EQ, Mid select and Killswitch :D

I like it simple !!!

By "full removable fretboard", do you mean the whole fretboard from the 1st to last fret? :eek:

I've played 17-20mm on so many different basses and although I really love 17.5mm for my left hand, my right hand suffers. This seems to just fit perfectly. The Modulus Genesis 5 fretted I played for about 10 years was 35" at 19mm and a wonderful bass, but this one gets the full range of tones and the neck does feel wicked :)

Wow, I think we have to hear more about this!

Actually, it kind of makes sense to me. Any concern about the board(s) sounding the same or stating intake over time?

For the record, I don't have a day job. . . well I guess teaching lessons, but it's gonna take a lot of gigs to pay for my Fodera. Of course it's also tax deductible!

Just to point out that these are not strictly the domain of people with high paying careers. Instruments are really important if you make a living playing!

I am actually in the process if getting a grad degree in another field, but so far not made a dime off of it. Maybe if it goes well I'll buy some more Foderas though!

come on - have you ever seen somebody running around with some fretboards in his pocket ???? And two moveable pickups ? ;)
