This is the first time I know a wood called "pink ivory." I thought it was ivory dyed pink and was almost about to ask "is ivory a legal commercial now?"

The photos are taken at an angle which definitely can cause some distortion in the way they look...which is just fine by us.

Jason, are you really sure that the Newborn pics have the correct dimensions ? May be it depends on my display config but to me they all look slightly stretched to the height ... The bodies look about 10% taller than in real life - at least compared to my Foderas...

Pink Ivory is actually a variant of Ebony and has completely similar properties. It's very rare to get quality material that is large enough for fingerboards. We only have a couple of pieces left. All of our Pink Ivory has been in our shop since the late 1980's - early 1990's...

Hi Jason,

Hm, may be. But the top views do not look angled. If you squeeze the pics by a factor of about 13% then they become more realistic.

Here is one of my Imperials, correct dimensions compared to the real thing:

And here is your newest Imperial (they all look similar):

Does anybody else realize a difference in the dimensions or is it just dust on my display ?

I can't believe that the difference comes from an angled view...

Not that it is important in any way. Only wanted to know whether you are aware of that. I think it could be fixed quite easily. But if it is only my personal problem then forget this post...

In addition to the different perspectives, vertical stripes always result in a thinning perception (horizontal stripes make things look wider, dark colors make things look smaller...). So, it's you but not just you...

Pink Ivory is one of the best fingerboard woods I've ever played. It's especially amazing for fretless.

Is it possible to get Diamond fingerboard wood for the whole fretboard. Looks great

There has been no change to the shape of the instruments -- other than the fact that as something carved largely by hand there will naturally be variances between them...anything else is a combination of camera angles and pixel ratios...not any real change in the instruments themselves.

We would never offer it. Tonally it is acceptable for a small portion of the FB, but you would not want it across the entire neck as it does not resonate terribly well...it is simply very high tech, high quality plywood...
