Fodera Club Part XIII

I just wanted to take a quick moment to post this. Last week, I picked up my Emporer 5 Standard. And what an amazing weeek it's been getting to know this baby. Well, yesterday, I took a drive into Brooklyn (this was possible, as I live in southern New Jersey) to ask a few questions about my new bass. Joey, Vinny, Amanda, and everyone else could not have been warmer and more welcoming. All of my questions were answered. In fact, Joey even tweaked the bass a bit so now my insanely perfect action is a hair more insanely perfect. But that's not all. These folks really do give a damn. They're not kidding when they speak of each of the instruments produced in their shop as one of their babys. To all the folks at Fodera, I thank you. My time spent there yesterday was truly special. It's hard to imagine ever playing anything else or dealing with anyone other than these guys. Wow, just wow.

my Viceroy will feature two moveable Pickups and a full removable fretboard (the fretboard is hold with magnets) - so I will have two extra fretboards with me on a gig to choose from - I can switch between Pao Ferro, Birdseye Maple and Ebony

Edit : Each Pickup will have it's own Pope 3 band EQ, Mid select and Killswitch :D

You're making me feel bad. I settled for the "Poor Man's Viceroy." No movable pickups, no fretboard extensions, nothing. It's actually an Emperor with a Viceroy body and Garrison headstock. But awesome in its own right.

Munji,

if you would have seen my specs that I've posted in details some posts before that post you would have seen that my Bass only will have the Viceroy shape like your new Bass.

But since people seem to be blind and ask all the time for the moveable Pickup and the fretboard thing I started to tell them about two moveable pickups, a 3 band EQ for each Pickup and a full fretboard that can be switched between Pao Ferro, Maple and Ebony.... and even this does not seem to make somebody wary ... :rolleyes: ;)

come on have you seen somebody running around at gigs with two extra fretboards in his pocket ??? :)

however, i think two moveable pickups could be amazing.

Whew! I had already taken the haircoat out of mothballs. Yours sounds very elegant. I went for a little more flair on this one than my Emperor, which has a nice, slightly understated maple burl top on walnut. Jason rounded up some very nice pieces of koa for me to choose from, and I'm having them put it on mahogany with an ebony board. Duncan dual coils in the '70s position.

It's pretty cool, because the basses will share the same body shape, but the appearance and sound probably will be quite different between them. Mine's supposed to be ready in September - maybe if they're both close to being done at the same time they can take some pictures of them together.

thanks ! so my one is going to be the 4th one that has the shape :) - my production date is mid october so I think they will not be able to make a group picture :)

Your specs do sound nice too !!!

Can't wait to see a "normal" Viceroy shaped Bass be finished :hyper:
