BIG smiles here in Fodera-land as I read this. I just shared it with the whole shop. While we understand that we cannot have every experience with the shop be as positive as yours, we certainly strive for that outcome. It was great seeing you guys yesterday. Enjoy the bass and we'll hopefully see you again soon!

Kindest regards,

J

Guys, sorry for taking this off topic but I have something I'd really like to share with this audience. Yesterday, my wife and I travelled from south Jersey to Fodera. I had an appointment with Joey to have a setup done on my ES5. We were greeted by a very warm and welcoming staff. Jason, then met us and we had a great conversation over a number of minutes. I was explaining was I was looking to accomplish through a new setup and a change of strings. And he listened! In this age of, generally poor customer service everywhere else, I was respected and listened to. We then went back to Joey. And, again, wow!! He heard me. He understood. And he took the time to provide exactly what I was looking for. The people at Fodera GET IT!!! There is never a sense of being treated differently because your name is not adorning record covers (yeah, it's my age) or concert posters. These guys, genuinely appreciate the customer. I was in the shop once before, shortly after buying this amazing bass. Vinny came out from the back just to talk, to ask me what I liked or if there was anything I didn't like about the bass. We chatted over a quick bagel. This company, Fodera is like no other company I have ever dealt with. Color me extraordinarily impressed. Well, our visit concluded with a brief tour. The folks in the back could not have been kinder. Twenty four hours later, I am still feeling the buzz of having been treated in such a warm and human way. We are so quick to point out when a company fails to meet our expectations. Well, in four months of owning a Fodera and after two visits to Brooklyn, I have to say that these guys, not only meet every expectation but far and away exceed all expectations. Thank you Jason, Joey, Vinnie, and everyone else there. You guys are all amazing. Man, my thumb is tired now. Oh, and by the way, my amazing bass is now even more amazing.

The folks at the Fodera shop do indeed make you feel most welcome. I still remember leaving after my first visit feeling as if I'd known everyone for years.

It's a great collection of passionate and professional artisans who really stand out among their peers.

Visited Larry Hartke today at Sam Ash and took a (crappy cell phone) shot of the Fodera wall:

Got to play an Emperor Std. 5 (Ummm.....WOW!) today. I got a chance to play every Fodera on the wall as Mr. Hartke is a wonderful host!

I was there earlier this month and had a very similar experience! Larry hung out and chatted with em for about an hour and a half as i tried different basses through an Aguilar rig. Great guy!

The prices on used gear are ridiculous though. Is Kosher that the Emperor standard they had was listed at 9,999.00 when I went?

Man! I've been wanting to pick up a NYC to replace my jazz bass and just keep everything Fodera! I was alittle.disappointed since theyre not made anymore. Looks like I need to go to Samash NYC!

Hey guys, here is a video of a performance I played with my MG. I used a bit of delay for the solo section.

Purpose of this video is for people to hear the instrument but if you have any tips on my playing I'm glad to take any pointers!

Eq on bass is relatively flat but I put a bit more of bass on it, if I remember I had the pick up switched to humbucker, active and mid boost off. Pan slightly to neck pickup and tone a bit rolled off.
I specify my settings because these basses have a huge range of tones so it will have a very different sound if I tweak it.

Amp is an epi funky

From everything I've read, you'd have liked an NYC a lot, but you might *love* one of the Standard models..

I own an Emperor Standard, and you're right. I love it!!!

Hi Jason,
Could you tell us what kind of Bart pickups some of the older Foderas had? They LOOK like the type used in older Tobias Basses, but are they sonically similar? I know most Barts tend to have a High End "softening" if you will.
