Fodera Club Part XV

Hello,
I'm a fan of the "old" Vic's sound that we can hear here :
After having two Monarch V.W Classic with the M.Pope's preamp, I've heard that theses two identical bass have quiet the same sound with minors differences, but without having these Victor's "old" sound.
So, here is my question :
Do you think that a Monarch with the original haz preamp, an ash body and an ebony fingerboard can reach these particular sound or is it impossible due to the combination of woods ?

I think those are the Foderas I'm most likely to be able to afford one day, so for obvious reasons, I'm loving that shot.

The j's were the 9-S's (single coils) which later became a 959 (hum cancelling). The soapbars were actually reverse-P style.

Joey said that they were not similar to the ones that Tobias used. Sadly, all of this is before my time, So I cannot speak with authority on the subject.

Could you tell us what kind of Bart pickups some of the older Foderas had? They LOOK like the type used in older Tobias Basses, but are they sonically similar? I know most Barts tend to have a High End "softening" if you will.

The Ash body / Ebony FB will be much brighter sounding than Vic's original Fodera as it has a Mahogany body and Indian Rosewood FB...

I suspect that someone is sitting at LAX waiting for a red-eye :D

Safe travels Jason, Joey and Laura. I got to hang with them Saturday at BPL and it was a pleasure, as always. Whenever I interact with any of the Fodera people it reconfirms my choice in instrument (of course the fact that playing the bass inspires me every day helps as well). It is a pleasure to support the company and what, how, and why they do things.

Oh, and tell Joey I found the pics of my car. I'll send some probably Tue - I can give him a photo essay on the transformation from garage queen to track beast.

I love that Video... Haven't seen it in a long time.. Thanks for putting that up. And yes, his sound is spectacular on that.

My favorite tone of Vic's comes from his original yin yang with the alder body and maple fingerboard. I don't like his newer yang with the walnut body at all.

no, i can't do that fancy stuff.

i was playing free jazz . . . that was from hammering away at moving octaves (thumb for low note, index for high) at a fairly fast clip . . . and hard.

no subtly here . . .

(this post was my backhanded slam at some to the goofier comments i've seen about fodera basses on tb of late)
