Fodera Club Part XV

I only found out a couple of days ago that L&M now carry Fodera standards, and I'm super stoked. Part of me wishes I could have bought my bass through them and set up a financing plan. It would've been convenient since I work at the local store. But truthfully, it was way more fulfilling to visit the shop and pick it up in person. Having Joey smile at me and ask if the setup was ok - well, that made my year. And yes, the setup was perfect!

Baird - you're going to love your E5S. When's the arrival date?

No joke, this entire past week has involved me researching the YYS and trying to find reasons not to buy one. Please help...

Help you buy one?

If you dig PJ, hard to find a better bass out there imho. I think the YYS is a bit more racous than my dovetails. They punch for days. Of course if you prefer dual coils, the new Monarch 4 std would be a good choice. Another bolt-on punchmaster.

Ultimate Bass in Guelph (great guys) has been selling Foderas for years in Canada, but Dan at L&M likely helped bring the line in for selfish reasons (he wanted to order one for himself!). :p

My E5S is #65 and it looks like March is the ETA. I usually have no patience, but I am willing to wait for my dream bass (turns out the Standard made that possible as it is nearly exactly how I was going to order a custom Emperor!) and I wanted it brand new for a change.:hyper:

I'd say you're right. The YYS is the perfect compliment to the E5S. There's a surprising amount of bass and warmth to the E5S, even with single coil mode on, and I'm jonesing for a slightly more aggressive sound without having to go custom.

I actually prefer jazz basses above all else, so I'll likely order a custom someday... maybe a 33" imperial 4-string with single coils, ash body/ash neck/pau ferro fb. One can dream!

Do you think that a Monarch with the original haz preamp, an ash body and an ebony fingerboard can reach these particular sound or is it impossible due to the combination of woods ?

the yys is an outstanding bass. In many ways just as good as my deluxe and elite foderas. now that makes it easy doesn't it :)

^ Hahaha. True. That one looks good, but it seems like maybe it did not get the right combination of magic beans, unicorn horns, and hopes of young virgins.

Enjoyed watching that guy play though.
