Hi J, yeah killer bass, the slap tone in passive mode is stellar, but I screwed up the action. If I don't sort it out in the next few attempts, I'll be bringing it over for a Plek & set-up, otherwise it remains in the same pristine as when you owned it.

IMHO the bass is truly a collectors piece, plus the fact that Fodera no longer use Chestnut for guitars makes it pretty special.

Are you kidding? That used to be yours? Man, if that had *ever* been mine, I'd have sold a family member before I'd have flipped that bass.

It cannot hurt that we lovingly restored it to "as-new" condition when I bought it. The original finish was really kind of yellowed. I stripped the old finish off myself...what a pain!

I just do not really get into 5-string. I am a devout 4-string guy. I owned that one and then we built another killer bass with a Chilean Laurel Burl top that I kept for about a year.

If I am not regularly taking a bass out to play it, I'd much rather have someone else showing it love...as beautiful as we try to make our instruments, it's more important to us that they get played A LOT!

I also owned an NYC, but sold it once I got a Fodera Emperor. I loved the NYC; it was better than any bass I had played. It had the 3-band Pope pre and that gave each note great depth. It was like a jazz bass on steroids. As good as it sounded, my Emperor sounds even better. That is the only reason why I sold the NYC. I wasn't playing it at all. I bought it because I was curious them and I wasn't dissapointed with the tone. I highly recommend the NYC.

We have that in common. It's the reason why my stable, though it changes relatively often, never grows past about four or five basses.

I've said here a few times that I dislike gold hardware and singlecuts, but based on that video review (which I may have watched more often than is necessarily healthy), I'd call up ABT for that bass if I had a f***tonne of money sitting in my pocket.

I just got it last week! The tone is incredible and the looks is gorgeous, too! Did a couple changes on the jumper settings at the back on the control cavity and voila!!!...

I switched the hardware out to black, so now you just need to get over the body shape and get out the credit card!

Guys, sorry for taking this off topic but I have something I'd really like to share with this audience. Yesterday, my wife and I travelled from south Jersey to Fodera. I had an appointment with Joey to have a setup done on my ES5. We were greeted by a very warm and welcoming staff. Jason, then met us and we had a great conversation over a number of minutes. I was explaining was I was looking to accomplish through a new setup and a change of strings. And he listened! In this age of, generally poor customer service everywhere else, I was respected and listened to. We then went back to Joey. And, again, wow!! He heard me. He understood. And he took the time to provide exactly what I was looking for. The people at Fodera GET IT!!! There is never a sense of being treated differently because your name is not adorning record covers (yeah, it's my age) or concert posters. These guys, genuinely appreciate the customer. I was in the shop once before, shortly after buying this amazing bass. Vinny came out from the back just to talk, to ask me what I liked or if there was anything I didn't like about the bass. We chatted over a quick bagel. This company, Fodera is like no other company I have ever dealt with. Color me extraordinarily impressed. Well, our visit concluded with a brief tour. The folks in the back could not have been kinder. Twenty four hours later, I am still feeling the buzz of having been treated in such a warm and human way. We are so quick to point out when a company fails to meet our expectations. Well, in four months of owning a Fodera and after two visits to Brooklyn, I have to say that these guys, not only meet every expectation but far and away exceed all expectations. Thank you Jason, Joey, Vinnie, and everyone else there. You guys are all amazing. Man, my thumb is tired now. Oh, and by the way, my amazing bass is now even more amazing.
