How does it sound? It would be a bigger disappointment if it was lightweight but didn't sound good.
Sell it or buy a better strap.
My USA Spector 5er is 11.7lbs and I was p?$$ed when I first picked it up. Of course, I bought it used and forgot to ask for a weight, so all my fault.
I found a really good strap makes a huge difference. I was unable to gig it at first, now I can do 4 hours with it easily.
Too bad it will likely go when I order my custom Monarch.

It has 70´s pup spacing so it excels in single coil mode with both pups full on. OK with bridge pup alone in humbucker mode. Never use the front pup by itself.

Wow, if this is the way this went down I am profoundly sorry for that. It is correct that we do not really believe in using very lightweight swamp ash for builds (unless it is specifically requested) because we feel the tone suffers. But building you an 11.7 pound bass without warning is absolutely not cool. Please get in touch with me and let's see what we can figure out.
As some people already mentioned, we could build a new body, we could chamber the existing body and put a new back on it...there ARE lots of possibilities.
The sad reality is that sometimes we blow it -- every company and every human being I know does -- but, there is no excuse for not trying your best to fix it when you do.

Always great to see a company taking care of its customers, especially when their dream bass is involved. I've dealt with Jason over issues with my imperial before and he's been nothing but helpful.
On a happier note, my band released another cool video of one of our tracks off our new album but mixed with live footage from our last BB Kings show and it came out pretty sweet. LOTS of sick fodera shots! Check it out if you'd like!

So Jason, did you guys reveal what those fun things were at NAMM? Or is that still down the road?
by my count, they had four guitars there:
001 from 1983 (first-ever fodera)
three new ones.

As usual all of the Fodera gang were awesome. Luckily we slipped in early on Sunday and it wasn't too crazy.

Yeah, I had a gig Friday night and after finally getting up Saturday and having breakfast around noon I figured we were better off bailing on the day and instead going Sunday. By all accounts it was the right call. This morning, no traffic, parking was a breeze, and no line to get our badges. The halls were pretty quiet so I was able to actually have a conversation with people without shouting. We finally bailed around 2pm and stopped in Little Saigon for some pho on the way back home. So in 4 hours at NAMM I can count on one hand the number of booths I visited - Fodera, Baer, Circle K (never did find Jule though), Lull (didn't talk to Mike as he was busy), and Audio Plus (the distribute Focal monitors, Lauden mics and some other nice stuff). Evidently Stevie Wonder was at the Focal booth yesterday as he wanted to listen to some SM9 monitors (I have a pair of smaller Focals for mixing). Mostly I talked with Vinny/Joey/Jason and Roger Baer. Time well spent 
jules was there friday and that was it. i mentioned that i thought you were there saturday but he was already on the way.
one of the high points of the nammage experience this year was seeing vinny's wife react to the whole thing. as far as i know she'd never been to cali, let alone namm.
i think it must have been a trip for her to see that her husband is a *legend* . . .
