It looks sooooo nice in person...like a creamy Vintage White or sth.... ;)

Since my taste totally turned away from figured wood tops (I still like to look at them but don't want to have them on my basses anymore ;)) the Holly was the 1000% right desicion to go with - timeless and classy looking - plus I do LOVE white basses :hyper:

I'm still can't get that hollowbody out of my mind that Munj posted.

I'm definitely floored !

I remember our chat about the options months and months ago and how you moved from one choice to the other. In the end the Fodera team and you nailed it - this looks as it should become a future classic ! The "Lennard Lefty Signature" ...lol

Really love that complete layout ! Bolt-On, 22 frets, Single Coils, Blocks, and .. the creamy Holly Top. Congrats !

The only thing I might want to change is the stacked pot...

Is that the new high end case ? Looks so wonderful with the Holly top !

Thanks Rainer :)!!! There is no one better to talk about Foderas because you have played and owned so many of them (and me as a lefty has to double or tripple check desicions on a Bass-Build because I'm not able to try different basses (only played upside down ;))

In the end I have listened to my heart and it was the right desicion ! :)

Ken, thank you so much for the compliment about the work we are doing, but I want to be very clear that it is the work of the entire shop, perhaps least of all me. Yes, I have a big part in "calling the plays" (along with Joey, Vinny and our Management Team), but we have a really wonderful team of people that consistently "execute the plays."

Does anyone else miss the carved heel on the bolt-ons? I love the way the curve accentuates gracefulness of the design and my thumb fits right in when playing up high on the neck. It was part of the reason I chose to keep my Monarch over the YYS.

Here's a picture of mine for comparison.

phishaholik, I prefer the extra bit of carving, as well. Jason, why the change? I imagine the extra carve may cause a little weaker joint, not leaving enough wood for the screws and such.

on the old BO design also the distance between the strings and the body surface was much higher - some players put a pickguard on their Foderas for slappin'

With the new BO design also that distance went down - now it feels "with a pickguard" and has nearly the same distance like on the neckthroughs - feels GREAT to me - also the back feels great too :)

I asked him in a previous thread and he stated that Vinny just came in one day and said that he decided he didn't want to do it anymore. No one objected, so they just stopped doing the extra bit of carving.

I really find that it makes playing in the upper register easier and I really, really like the aesthetics of it. It adds a little bit of class and makes the back not look as plain.

That is probably the only thing that I don't really like about my Fodera, there is a lot of distance between the top of the bass and the strings. It doesn't hamper playability for me at all and I'm not sure if I could get the action as low as I like if the neck was set lower in the body. I already have my bridge bottomed out as it is. It's definitely not a big deal to me.

In the end I believe that Vinny liked keeping the extra mass at the joint. He felt that it was better from both a strength and tone standpoint.
