Behold the duck. Wanted to try a string mute, and this was what was in cable range.

YYS, stuffed mute, tome rolled down and bass rolled up. A very nice upright on a guitar sound! This is with Fodera nickel strings, to stay on topic, although occasionally I've switched to labella tape wounds.

no animals were harmed in making this picture.

This old guy just put new strings on both Foderas. I think the ones on the YYD were 3 weeks old.

My Rob Allen otoh...still has the original set of La Bella flats on it.

naw, you don't qualify—you're *too young*.

and i bet it might come down to people who grew up learning to play listening to guys who played flats (or even had a first bass with flats).

back when i bought my first new bass, a fender p in 1972, it only came with flats.... hows that for old... and of course my first bass was a Kay with flats.
never tried roto RW until i added a used 4001 ric about 1976

yep. got an aria violin bass in 1970, flats. 1971, i got a hofner bass, flats. 1972, i got a 66 fender jazz, flats. i remember when rotosound rounds were first making their appearance, big tie-in was entwhistle, of course.

Well, I'll be an official Senior Citizen in July. That means anyone who kicks my ass gets the additional charge of elder abuse. Just keep that in mind whenever I meet any of you guys. Also, I can get Denny's Grand Slam Breakfast for $2.49 any time I want it.

how much longer do you live if you eat a lot of those?

i'm sure that, even though i'm younger than you, you could still take me. ;-)
