but also funny - since I have my white Viceroy (got it end of january 13') NOBODY from the audience asked me about my Bass :) .... I do play in front of let's say 100 - 5000/6000 people and I am sure that there had been at least some Bassplayer around - also there is always contact to the people after the concert.... I do play Fodera's since 2006 and only got asked about my Bass maybe 2-3 times...

So maybe this shows again that we all seem to tend to freak out when having our Fodera's with us and in reality hardly nobody knows what this piece of wood that does not look like a Fender guitar is ;) .....

...oh wait - I got one feedback from a girl that was singing in a Gospelchoir - she asked me why I do have a "g** butterfly on my bass" .... :D:D:D:D ... she started to understand when I expalined to her that the Butterfly can be compared to the Ferrari horse :D;)

"Let's see ... what's that say ... Fodera? What's that? Is it as good as a Fender?"

Actually, I've had one person comment on my Emperor - my only groupie. She's about 80 years old. She said, "That sure is a pretty instrument." There are a couple local bass players who like my Viceroy, but they hang out at BSD, so they know what it is.

Hi Jason!!

I hope all is well with you, the family and the Fodera gang!

I wanted to find out whether Vinnie had a change of mind in terms of building lefty MGS's, as I remember during my E5S build that it was not possible due to the CNC machine compatibility, which is completely understandable.

But what if a Lefty player (i.e me) wanted the exact same bass, but lefthanded? What would the ordering process be considered as? Custom or Standard? To be more specific, would I be charged the same price as the standard plus the 15% upcharge? Or would it be quoted like a custom?

Just getting this question out the way on TB so if any other lefty's were wondering, they wont need to ask you the question over again and again :)

I get "the bass sounds great" a lot more than "the bass looks great". I get a surprising number of comments on my tone (not my playing:p) at gigs when I play my E5S.

Must other bassists have no clue what my E5S is though. When I play my '70s Fenders I have more musicians approach me to ask what year they are, etc.

Fine with me, I could care less if the crowd knows I am playing a $5k+ bass. I love the tone, the feel, the look, etc. Thats all that matters.

You're right, I might be mistaken about the cnc machine. I do not disagree with the concept of a standard being a standard. But it's clearly not the case here, as I own a lefty E5S. I think it had to do with the fact that it's a single cut, more craft time I think. Guess will find out from Jason :)

For a change of pace, my band was working on a few 80's metal songs tonight for an upcoming gig... Crazy Train, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. The E5S sounded amazing! Kinda surprised me, but it cut thru 2 raunchy loud guitars with no issues.

Got me wondering.... why don't I see any metal heads playing Foderas? Are there any Fodera endorsers that play metal/heavier rock?

This is correct. We wanted to get all of the shapes under our belts as right handed instruments before delving into variations. The reality is that lefty instruments are very hard to make and take far more effort than the 15% charge compensates for. That said, my wife is a lefty and not offering lefty instruments would not sit well with The Boss.

Pink Ivory on a FB is not finished, it is merely oiled. As it oxidizes, the only way to make it truly bright pink again is to pull the frets and sand off the oxidation -- a fairly traumatic event for a bass purely to maintain the color of the Pink Ivory. That said, if you regularly oil your FB, do not leave it out exposed to UV light and keep the instrument in a case when not being used, Pink Ivory can remain pink for quite some time. My M4 shows no sign of browning yet...
