Fodera Club Part XXIII

I have a Warmoth I put together years ago with the lined fretless neck. I've probably
picked it up maybe 10 times since I built that thing. I've resolved myself to the fact
that I am not a fretless player.

I actually love playing fretless and have more fun playing it than fretted. I almost always use stainless rounds and I play more like Jack (Bruce) than Jaco. I am not a big mwah guy. :)

Great specs

Thanks! I forgot to write that the neck is ash with ebony stringers, like my other bass.

Woohooo
I fergot your passion for Katalox :smug:
I bet this will look insane :)
What happened to your Katalox Monarch ? You still have it ?
Have a good recovery !!!

Yes, my passion for katalox is strong. :D Katalox makes for a great fretboard- very similar sounding to macassar ebony to my ears.

The katalox Monarch is still with me, though it is going back to Jason to resell. Great sounding bass, but a few things aren't quite right for me. I love the tone, though. It will be going back to Jason within the next few weeks (waiting for the custom box). I'll probably place the order for the second bass I mentioned around that same time.

This Redwood will become the top of my Monarch Eilte Fretless Build (despite the Imperial pencil outline on the topwood), which will include Walnut Body, Red Oak Neck, and Ebony FB... Will be 34" scale, Black Hardware, Matching pup covers, etc.

I greatly look forward to seeing it all come together along with some of the other tremendous looking builds in the aforementioned postings! :hyper:

Best,

Mike

Wow, I've always been a huge sucker for a great piece of Koa. NICE!!

Thanks Vic!

It's a honey of a bass, even by high Fodera standards... You'd think the tonewoods would bring a darker overall timbre (given Mahogany Body, Koa Top, Pao Ferro FB), but in fact, it is an articulate instrument with great balance across the spectrum...

Best,

Mike

This is no longer completely accurate, but it is the most recent set of photos that I have...

So, the third from the left on the second picture (the one with the Quilted Spalted Maple top) has been sold to make room for a Monarch Elite with a light colored Buckeye Top and Pink Ivory FB...

Cheers,

Jason

Jason, How about a pic of your amazing Monarch collection again. I know it's been through some changes since the last time you posted a picture.

Best,

I would guess that it also would really look great with the Imperial / MG shape :)

Just realized my first post was incomplete. Here's the full version.
In with my AJ shape Presentation 5 (not certain how to call those beautiful pieces)

the one in your avatar is also not in the pictures.

Very yonic. ;)

Nice!

Jason, your collection is pretty incredible. Which of your two Yin-yang's do you prefer between the yellowheart/purpleheart/ebony and holly/ebony/maple? If you had to pick one, do you prefer the PJs or duals? Having all of those is very "hair club for men" of you! :D
