yeah, it's easy and in a 5 week month you sock away $100. any chance i get where i come into some odd cash (selling something that i don't use anymore or random check like a rebate or a gift or whatever...) i toss it into the 'gear fund' - buy, sell, trade...up and down to find what you are looking for. you'll learn a lot in the process.
i just sold my way out of this club today. sold my 2nd fodera (killer instrument but not really me) and hope to put the money towards something else that i'm really into. bass is a great hobby (whether you are a working pro or just a pleasure player like myself) if you really enjoy it, why not get a chance to play all sorts of instruments? i can combine this cash from the sale with the gear fund to get something wild or custom or do as black.rose and pick up a few less expensive, yet quality instruments that i've had my eye on. i've made many moves simply to enhance the gear fund. even while selling my emperor i was offered 2 very high end basses for my fodera. had i done the deal and spent the time selling the other 2 basses, i would've ended up with a lot more than the value of the Fodera (and had the chance to own a few other basses that in the end i might have kept and been happy with). there are a lot of ways you can build up your gear when you are willing to buy, sell, and trade your instruments to see what's out there. when doing that, be warned, you WILL sell or trade instruments that you'll later regret parting with, it's inevitable, but worth it in the end if you end up with something you'd have never tried.
