Unscrew it all the way and look underneath- It'll have a couple letters on it. Post it here and I'll tell you the magnet type.

IIRC, the big shelled pickups were all humbuckers and soapbars, depending on what the customer wanted. The single coils looked like single coils.

when you find the fodera that works for you, you don't want to play anything else.
I didn't felt this with my first fodera (an emperor II 5 strings), but I wanted to know why people who loves fodera only play their basses (unless a gig require another type of bass like for oteil burbridge ) now, with my monarch wooten classic, I'm in love.
Being able to play a bass like that is to me one of the greatest experience.
I discover a lot of things and the instrument inspire me to do things that I wouldn't do with my fenders (hey I still love my fenders)
Now I'm happy to announce that my custom ordered fodera is almost ready, I'll post some pictures a friend of mine took at the shop.
I hope to receive the bass for end of july or beginning of august.
it's for my 30th birthday, and this bass is one that I'll keep for the rest of my life.

that is why I tell people that never played a fodera that they shouldn't be disapointed if they try one of these basses, the specs mght not be to your tastes, you've got to try a lot of them, or you need to know exactly the tone you are looking for.

if you know exactly what you want, you won't need other basses, you will only want to play your fodera.

now I need advice for a gigbag, I think I will get the monocase m80,
but I wonder if I should get the dual case (to put two basses) of the "normal" m80
Y'all must help me here!!!!

I own the M80, the iGig 535 and Mono Double...For a single, it is a toss up. It really depends on if you want the extra pockets and storage. If you do, the iGig is a great bag. If the extra storage is not a concern, I like the M80. It is much lighter and, to me, it seems a little better built. For a double, I checked out the Mono and the iGig..Mono was better, hands down.

By the looks of that bass list.. you must have some nice shoes! Man, am I jealous.

Any tips on how to get the wife to say yes to a $10,000 bass? haha! no really...

exactly as described. i've been buying, selling, and trading basses now for about 17 years. i also keep a gear fund that i toss about $20 a week into. over time, you can easily turn one or two basses into a nicer one if you know how to watch the market and know what things are worth. if you see a deal, jump at it, then flip it.

i ended up with my first Fodera after I sold a bass to an eager buyer who REALLY wanted the bass and was willing to pay more than I felt it was worth (I wouldn't sell it unless given an offer I couldn't refuse and that happened). with my wife, i can't spend our money on basses...so i've managed to constantly upgrade by watching the market and making good deals and saving. 17 years is a LOT of time saving. i assure you, i'm far from wealthy...bass wealthy, maybe, but wealthy...nope.

That's a great idea Cosmicevan. I do not have a gear fund, but I will now. My wife seems to be ok with me buying gear because the band I play with does well, but $10,000 is a big chunk in one shot. I used to "flip" gear when I was living in NYC, but I am back in Texas and the good deals are harder to find. I am going to really focus on the flipping thing from here on out and maybe look at flipping those little 6 string things that those "OTHER" guys like to play.

Thanks.

to finance my fodera imperial, I did some good sales, I sold my electronic drum TD12 at a good price, and I saved money, cutting all the expense that were not necessary, It took some discipline but now I'm saving a lot of money!
to get my monarch, at first I traded my marcus miller 5 and some ebs effects to get a ken smith bsr 6GN, then I sold the Smith (I kept it only one month) and bought my monarch (used), I was lucky to be able to find that monarch at that price, and to be able to sell the smith at the same time, I never expected to get a monarch (especially living in france where fodera basses are scarce).

For the imperial, I wanted this bass since 2006, but I bought an emperor II that was not to my tastes. so I saved money and sold gear to buy that bass, I didn't want to compromise, now i'm happy because the imperial is almost finished, and and I'm going to have two fodera (I had the monarch in december, and i think I'll get the imperial in august) so you never know how things might happen!

But please, think of what kind of tone you want to get, you can be disapointed if the bass doesn't meet your specs (Iwas with he emperor II)
but if you get the fodera that meet your specs, you won't want play anything else.

I now prefer quality over quantity, and don't forget, if you don't like the fodera you can always sell it or trade to get some other gear.

In 2007, I traded my emperor II and my fbass bn6 and I got a fender marcus miller 5, a fender reissue 75 usa, a fender jaco pastorius sig usa fretless, a fender pbass classic 50 and a fender strat srv.

Now tell me that wasn't a good deal!
