That can't be true, your telling me if someone were to get a luthier who used the same woods, same design and same pickups it wouldn't sound like a fodera albeit just cheaper. I imagine a skilled luthier could make a great copy for 3000$. The one thing thats tricky is that ebony top that also seems to spread on the fretboard.
What factor would not make it sound any different? Do the luthiers at Fodera have magic fingers or something?
In a way, yes... All luthiers have "Magic fingers", they build a bass a certain way, they shape the tone of the bass as well, not just the electronics.
