in my opinion I'd rather save the money up and buy a proper fodera. that way you cant go wrong and you will have a great instrument that you will love throughout your life, trust me ive played a fodera and i instantly fell in love with it, but sadly i didnt have the money.![]()
Some luthiers can provide sound and design very similar to Fodera (R-Bass comes first in mind), but are you after the sound, the looks or both? Nothing will sound like a Fodera but a Fodera. On the other hand, several high end PJ EMG equipped basses will sound VERY similar to a VW Fodera
That can't be true, your telling me if I someone were to get a luthier who used the same woods, same design and same pickups it wouldn't sound like a fodera albeit just cheaper. I imagine a skilled luthier could make a great copy for 3000$. The one thing thats tricky is that ebony top that also seems to spread on the fretboard.
What factor would not make it sound any different? Do the luthiers at Fodera have magic fingers or something?
