Poppa likes! This one's @ the Atlanta Bass Gallery. I'm gonna go kick the tires today.

That's a beauty. I have the 'identical' color/wood combination Celinder. Looks great, and I've heard good things about those basses. From the feedback I've gotten, they are a little more mellow and 60's J sounding (I think all the NYC's use 60's pickup placement, and the Pope is a much 'milder' pre than the Greengrove) versus the very 70's aggressive Celinder, but play well and are very good quality.

I'm looking forward to hearing the feedback on the Fodera! That really looks like a nice one. I'm not sure about the black pickup cover, but that can easily be removed!

Edit: Looking at the picture again, it actually looks like 70's bridge pickup placement. Hard to tell, but cool if it is. They might use 60's placement for the Alder/RW versions and 70's placement for the Ash/Maple versions... nice if that's the case!

I believe so, and I don't think they offer a 4 string version at this point. They are about the same price as the Celinder Update 5, and the Sadowsky NYC J model with fancy top... so the pricing seems pretty much in line with the competition.

Hmm... perhaps I'm biased, but I like the aesthetics of the Fender MM more than the Fodera. I bet it plays like a greased up baby on a slip 'n slide, though.

Ha! I'm actually very interested in checking out the MM Fodera also. It looks very cool. I have heard that Nick Jost's alder/RW sounds great, but is very 60's mellow and fat. I have not heard any feedback concerning the more 70's oriented wood combination with what I assume is a different pickup placement.
