Fodera Monarch Trio

Haven't seen this thread in a while!

This trio was one of the reasons I got bitten by the Fodera bug a couple of years ago. It made me realize that a bolt on or set neck can sound as good (and better in this case IMO) than the more costly neck thru.

Neck thrus are works of art and offer amazing upper register access, but my bolt on was killer and I completely love my two dovetails (my preferred Fodera construction).

Great comparison of the 3 styles with the basses being as close to apples to apples as possible.

After carefully listening to the trio, I actually prefer the Bolt-on. The neck thru is too compressed for me, and the dovetail seems like a mixture of the both. But I lean more so on the side of the bolt-on.
Be very interesting to hear all 3 in a band mix. Likely indistinguishable.

I liked the bolt on slightly more than the dovetail, but I love the look and more importantly the feel of the dovetail.

To each their own in any case.
