This thread is hilarious. So many ppl giving Vic crap...yet many of these same ppl would refuse to play a Squier at their dive-bar cover-band gig if their Ibanez was lost.

Victor hasn't done anything that has brought a tear to my eye.

Vic should have played on a MIM Fender to show people that it doesn't make a difference what you play, it only makes a difference how you play it.

There are no "Vic should haves", as far as I'm concerned. Whether his style moves you or not, Mr. Wooten is an extremely accomplished and innovative player. A little respect, please!

If he finds inspiration, or if he has developed some specialized techniques around the responsiveness of a particular instrument (or even if he just likes the way it looks!), then that's his business. After all, I imagine he just about eats and sleeps with the things...

Pardon my ill humour, but I'm getting tired of all the "agenda nazis" on TB. Based on a lot of thread content around here, you're apparently a total moron if:
- you like tubes
- you like SS
- you use rounds
- you use flats
- you mix cabs
- you don't play a (insert Fender model name and colour here)
- you don't appreciate boutique instruments
- you play anything more expensive than an SX

I was talking to a friend who owns a local music store yesterday, and he expressed his frustration with what he calls the "Nike mentality", where buyers are obsessed with a handful of big brands. As a result, he finds it difficult to justify stocking anything unusual or interesting.

He says that when he started out, music was all about personal and artistic expression, but 20 years later, he feels like he might as well be selling skateboards to pre-teens.
