Thanks for asking. The gig has been a blast with one major exception... turns out the leader is completely out of control and we've had non-stop drama (including deportation threats). The country (Ethiopia) the people, the musicians, almost everything else was very cool. My wife just left and my son is coming over this Saturday, all on the venue's dime... very cool thing to do IMO. I'll be back in less than two weeks... maybe I'll start a thread about it. Most of it will likely be unbelievable...and this would be just the place to talk about it:D

BTW I took two sixes and decided not to risk carrying them on so I packed them extremely well and they got here without incident. Hoping the return trip is as uneventful.

I thoroughly enjoyed following this thread yesterday and today and applaud Jason (Just Thumpin') for his well-spoken explanation of events and Fodera's efforts to help a talented artist.

This is just a great example of excellent customer service. I doubt I'll ever own a Fodera, but it's nice to know that they go beyond-the-bass* to take care of their customers.

* I'm definitely trademarking that phrase! ;)

If I ever decide to take a step (ok, headfirst leap) into the "basses I probably can't afford" territory, I'll remember this! My brother owns a Fodera; it seems nice. I couldn't really play it due to it being both a 6-string and left handed, but the quality is pretty obvious regardless.

Yes it IS pretty awesome! Of course what Fedora basses cost you might say, well, they SHOULD have exceptional customer service. We've all heard the stories of Rolls Royce owners who's car had a problem in the middle of nowhere and the company flew someone out with the parts to fix it. But has it happened to you?

Common kiddies. You live in the same "modern" world I do where you can pay a fortune for a boutique bass and then when the bridge falls off you can't even get them to answer your emails. Everybody out there trying to get away with the absolute minimum. And THAT is why this story of the customer service at Fedora is so outstanding. A Fedora may be out of my price range, but this beyond the call of duty customer service certainly makes me a fan.

So supposedly the gig went off well. Vic sent me an email earlier today letting us know that he was successfully reunited with his Foderas and that he was looking forward to playing them tonight (well, earlier today where he was compared to here on the East Coast)...

Just handshakes, friendships and (hopefully) great instruments. Sometimes for really top players we build them at nice discounts (usually 30% off for very top artists).

Vic has no contract and he can play whatever he chooses. He is our dear friend and he happens to love our gear. Our trying to get him a bass was borne purely out of trying to help a friend that asked.

Heck, I just posted that he played the gig on a Marcus Miller Jazz Bass to give everyone closure. We are not worried about him playing other basses...his main fretless isn't one of ours...

Good job by the guys at Fodrea trying to back up one of their customers. I am surprised at all of the petty hot garbage that this thread attracted. I am sure VW crushed it on that MM jazz but I am sure he would've enjoyed having his main ax as well. Good job by the people willing to loan out their basses and the other folks that brought common sense to this conversation. To the other people, meh...........

This^...Vic could play a tub bass and make it sound good but this is a show for paying customers...if you were paying to see his show wouldn't you want to see him at his best with his best? I would.
