Fooly Cooly

I'd recommend watching them in Japanese with subtitles btw... Often I feel the dubs ruin it :(

I'm going to agree and disagree with you - it depends on the anime. I'm not a big fan of anime in any sense, but to my experience a lot of the male characters in the original japanese tend to have higher pitched voices than we're used to, and it can sound a bit girly and annoying to be honest, not to mention all the little details lost on reading the subtitles instead of watching the movie. Also, Japanese is an entirely different language, so what they say they have a different way of saying in terms of emphasis and vocal cues/tones, which would be lost on an english audience. I generally find that when the voices are done right it's much better to watch the english dubs, when the voices are done terribly wrong though (e.g. onepiece, sgt. frog), I either watch it in the japanese with english subtitles, or just don't watch it at all.

Yeah I see what your saying. In the circumstances where the jokes might be lost on an English audience, they tend to change the meaning though... Sometime drastically lol.

I guess a better statement from me would be. "Beware the dub, chances are, it's gonna suck (but maybe not)". The only exception I find is evangelion. I've watched it in both, and prefer the English ;)

FLCL is one of the very few anime that actually has an excellent English dub version. It helps that the original Japanese version was very clever and didn't patronize the viewer, and they kept the same level of intelligence in the English dub.

I try and catch the Pillows every time they come around. It feels like it's about time they came around again, hopefully another Delicious Bump tour with Noodles and Pop Chocolat etc.

I Love Fooly Cooly. They are showing it now on Adult Swim. When watched the first couple of episode. I was like "***" cause it seemed all over the place. Yeah, and the ending theme song is catchy as heck.

If you like this, then definitely look at Excel Saga.

I agree. The Knives character from Trigun was much better with the original voicing (calm, relaxed, laid-back and all the more sinister for it) than with the official English dub (gibbering maniac). Less gravitas, less interesting.

I honestly can't even remember most of Trigun, except that I really liked it, I think I'm gonna look for it now.

i just caught my first episode of fooly cooly it was episode #4 holy crap this show is messed up there a sex jokes every where, but it is a good show im gonna keep watching. i like the ric though

P.S. how many episodes are in this series

There are six episodes in total:
1. Furi Kuri (Fooly Cooly)
2. Faisuta (Firestarter)
3. Maru Raba (Marquis de Carabas)
4. Furi Kiri (Full Swing)
5. Burabure (Brittle Bullet)

There is also a two-volume manga (which I have read... it's... different, but the same...) and three novels (which I have not) based on this series.
