There are some old L&M videos on UtubeKenny's got a few great tunes I like to play, Angry Eyes (Loggins and Messina) is another.
It was a biotch to learn for sure and I don't note for note it, I tried to get it close. It sure does go over well. When learning it I thought, like others "Who knew Footloose was so hard!"
It's not bad as long as you play it in an open string key. The fast octaves in the chorus are a bitch if you have to fret all of them.
Hey, whatever works. Not to be argumentative, but I never play open strings unless its to get a sustain from the string while I play something else on frets.
Its like turning control over to the bass.
I like to be in charge of every note I play.
One exception was when my band played "Fast As You".
In that hang in the middle, I would play an A7 above the 12th fret, on my A,Dand G, hit my bass to make the E ring, and then cross over and do a hammer walk up from the open E with my right hand.
Sounded great and looked amazing.
Here's a version by some buddies of mine with the bass nice and loud in the mix.
Hi!
That's rockin'! Nice job! I'm going to steal a couple of your licks in order to get a little closer to the original, they're nice licks that you've already stolen so I hope you don't mind.
Thank you for your indulgence,
