For all you tool fans

Didn't see anything there that would lead me to believe that he was on something (not that I'm saying he wasn't). Maynard's always been kind of a weird guy, and although he was gyrating around a bit strangely, his singing and timing were spot-on. I'd say that was just Maynard being Maynard.

Lol I went to a show where he said in between songs

"You'll have to excuse me I just took a whole bunch of acid...*crowd cheers*...well antacid."

I'm sure they all love their psychedelics in the off time but that looks like typical Maynard to me...The dude sings in his underwear, or sits on a monitor for entire shows...I think its his idea of stage presence...I have no doubt that he has tons of self control and discipline and is not the type to spiral out (haha I made an accidental tool reference) on drugs before his time.

I think I've read in interviews that Maynard is frightened by audiences, and that's why he acts the way he does, its just sheer nerves. Usually (these days at least) he stands back by the drums, often facing away from the crowd, and lets Justin Chancellor and Adam Jones be the 'face' of the show.

But who knows, Maynard says and does all sorts of things, for no reason that I can divine.

Freaking awesome performance though.

I love these conversations.

I remember in a college course I had, the instructor was telling us about a guy who was inspired by the Faust story and decided to tell everyone that he too sold his soul to the devil so that he could play piano. He was an amazing piano player too....and everyone would come to his show to see the man who sold his soul to play piano...

Needless to say, it sold tickets.

I used to put Maynard up on a pedestal, but now that I'm off the drugs I think he's just performing and composing how he sees and it's these other people who hear it while they're dropping acid that create his Faust story, so to speak.
