For the G&L Fans...

I was at G&L getting a cool mod done on my Jazz bass and found out that what I was having done will be an option for orders in the near future...my bass now sports a set of MFD Jazz pickups in it. The sound is fantastic - big and full without losing the "jazz" bass vibe.

A couple other really cool things will be available from G&L soon...if you are a fan, stay in touch with their social media accounts. I am not associated in any way, just a player who digs what they do!

Can you let us know more about the tone? Have you compared it to the usual alnico offering from G&L? How does it sound compared to the modded single coil L2000 sound? I don't want to be a pest, but I am SO curious...

I really wish they would bring back the JB 2.

^^^Yes, very curious indeed! I love the Lace Man o' War set in my JB, but I'd be more than open to dropping some MFDs in there. (Or, you know, just maybe ordering a JB-5 with a set.)

Sounds like it might be a bit like an L2000 with the single coil mod? Sort of a jazz bass sound with a lot of mid punch.

I wish they'd bring back the el-toro pups too.

I have to say that's the most unusual sounding Jazz bass I think I've heard.... Leo Fender would be proud, I bet... .

It does have a MFD kind of sound to it for sure - more highs and less distortion but still with good milk chocolate.... I want one!
