Its a guitar youtuber Jared Dines commissioned as a prop for a comedy video two years ago. The person he was buying it from ended up being a scam artist who stole his deposit and never delivered the instrument. You can see Jared's initials inlayed at the 12th fret.

It was was intended to troll people who start threads like this, as well as metal guitar players who detune a lot.

He ended up getting an 18 string built in 2018.

Interesting that the scale gets longer as you go up from the floor, but then jumps a few inches shorter again when you get to the top 6 fretless strings.

Why would a scam artist take the deposit, build the guitar, then never deliver it? Am I missing something? Why not stop at step 1?

Its a little complicated.

A guy in the US misrepresented himself as a luthier who was going to hand build it. Turns out he couldn't build anything and contracted a factory in China to make it. And he missed the delivery deadline by months. When the misrepresentation came to light, and because of the missed deadline, he was asked to refund the deposit and refused.

Eventually the instrument was delivered to the scammer from the Chinese factory. Now he's trying to sell it on Reverb. Or maybe he sold it to someone and they're trying to re-sell it on Reverb.
