Foreign actors doing American accents

On a related note, I'm guessing Charlize and Dave's fake South African accents are pretty genuine due to their parents having the actual accents.

I have no accent but my fake Filipino accent is pretty accurate since I'm just mocking...er, mimicking my parent's accents.

A similarly related note, Mike Meyers had very good accents in Shrek and Austin Powers because his parents are from Liverpool.

Does anybody here watch TURN: Washington's Spies? The show is great but the accents are literally all over the place. Of course we would have no recording of how people spoke back then so we can only speculate based on period written sources, scholarly essays, and current regional accent trends. And since we were a British colony back then, the accents may have been a bit of a hodgepodge just like on the show.

Yeah, I mentioned it eariier as J.J Feild who plays "Major John Andre" does a good English accent but was born and raise in Colorado.

He's a famous kiwi. That makes him Australian.

I think Iggy Azalea's American accent is pretty damn fake sounding.

Also, the Australians in Pacific Rim were hilarious, but they actually did sound like Russell Crowe.

As for other people doing Americans, Hugh Laurie going from Oxbridge English to American is pretty impressive.

Of these, I've seen only The Dead Girl, so far. Sad reflections now but it's a very good movie. I love Toni's performance especially. She's really something else. And the other two look good, at least, but don't quote me on that

Just found out about American version of UK series Broadchurch titled Gracepoint: has anyone seen it? Does David Tennant, transplanted from the original series, succeed at sounding bastante local?

Jamie Bamber, who played Lee Adama (“Apollo”) on the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series, is a brit who did a great American accent. I had no idea he was British until he was cast in the British version of Law & Order.
