For a kiwi, he's a pretty convincing Aussie,Is he good at North American accents IYO? or any accent other than his own?
Ya but she doesn't put on an American accent. That's how she naturally speaks.Milla Jovovich. In addition to her native Russian, she also speaks Serbian and English.
You mean she has learned to speak with an American accent.Ya but she doesn't put on an American accent. That's how she naturally speaks.
According to her wikipedia she moved here when she was 5. When she's playing an American in a movie, she's not putting on a fake accent. She's speaking like she always does. Like Charlize Theron and Dave Matthews. They were both born in South Africa and moved here as children. They're accents are naturally American. You mean she has learned to speak with an American accent.
But is somehow disqualified because she does it all the time...
Sam rocks.
So does Nicole Kidman. But, you be the judge,
As a big fan of the TV shows Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, I'd have to nominate Australian Jesse Spencer(who had been on "House" as a transplanted Aussie)and Brit Eamonn Walker. Occasionally a bit of Oz slips through on Jesse's dialog, but Walker just nails it. He was excellent in the dubious recounting of the rise of Chess Records, the dreadful "Cadillac Records", portraying Howlin' Wolf, and while he didn't exactly resemble Chester Burnett, he certainly had the moves down...
If he(Walker)were much younger, he would have been perfect for an Otis Redding biopic(not that Hollywood would get THAT right). My peeve with CF and CPD is that there is a major lack of the classic Chicago accent among the characters; there is some, and I certainly don't expect all of them to do the "Da Bears" schtick, but I've known many Chicago natives, and there's always a trace of it in their speech, some more pronounced than others.

This short clip of Charlize speaking Afrikaans is one of the greatest things on the internet. Stop at 0:20 to avoid hearing Piers Morgan speaking. On a related note, I'm guessing Charlize and Dave's fake South African accents are pretty genuine due to their parents having the actual accents.
I have no accent but my fake Filipino accent is pretty accurate since I'm just mocking...er, mimicking my parents accents.![]()

Does anybody here watch TURN: Washington's Spies? The show is great but the accents are literally all over the place. Of course we would have no recording of how people spoke back then so we can only speculate based on period written sources, scholarly essays, and current regional accent trends. And since we were a British colony back then, the accents may have been a bit of a hodgepodge just like on the show.
