In an exchange performance we had Arizona Theatreworks come up the hill for a weekend to present "Forever Plaid," a paean to the naive four-part-harmony of the late '50s. It's classic cornball music, but it requires real vocal chops to do it. Fun show, originally scored for piano trio; artistic and musical direction by Steve Hilderbrand.
I subbed for the company bassist who couldn't make the weekend. Contract, $50 per service, paid before opening night, with two rehearsals and three performances. I got the book a month in advance along with the cast recording.
Gear: ES-9 with Kolsteiin Heritage strings and Gage copperhead, light and heavy bows, Sansamp stompbox, Little Mark II, EA Wizzy 12 on a speaker stand behind me.
