Forgot my bass!!!

I realized I didn't bring any speaker cables, so all the time loading my cabs was wasted. I ended up just playing through the practice space's crappy bass amp.

I have 2 hardshell bass cases. In the pocket of each case I always keep: a strap, a speaker cable, a cord, and a power cord. I always bring those items when I pack up, so the ones in the cases are just spares...but they have come in handy a couple times.

but really, the best solution, i think, is take an extra minute or two and check everything right before i leave from now on.

I think that's really the best answer right there. I hunt a lot in the fall and the night before I go out I make a checklist of everything I'm going to take with me from ammo, guns and my knife to extra waterproof matches and survival kit. I then gather everything together and look it over and compare it to my list. When I'm loading up in the morning, I check off each item as I take out to the truck and load it in. I think something similar would work well for you as well.

Good one Jimmy and glad it worked out.

The worst one I've done is forget my Line 6 power supply(I live 93 miles from our gig). GC in Houston was glad to sell one. After that, I made and printed out a checklist that is looked at seriously before I get in the gigmobile and leave home.

Some years ago we were playing a gig in what can best be described as the "countryside" here in Norway. From the nearest city (Trondheim) there was a half hour drive to the ferry, an hour boatride and a one hour drive on the other side. When we got to the gig I got this feeling that something wasn't right, and yes, my bass was not there.

I remembered taking the bass out of the van to make room for the drums, when we picked up the drummer at his hotel in Trondheim, and temporarily set the gigbag against the wall next to the hotel entrance, but that was almost 4 hours ago.. Desperately I called the hotel and asked if they could check the outside to see if there happened to be a guitar ouside. I can still vividly hear the distant clacking of the receptionsts shoes over the phone, and when she returned and told me: yes, it was still there, - I could not believe my ears.

A $3000 bass alone on a busy sidewalk for 4 hours on a saturday afternoon...

Luckily I had a friend in town that was home AND had a car AND could pick up the gigbag and drive the bass to the ferryport. Then one of the local crew drove and picked it up. Five minutes before showtime, the bass arrived.

A shocking experience to say the least, 'cause an long-haired, urban (vegetarian) bassist in this kind of remote farmland WITHOUT A BASS is definely not worth much.. Since then I have made sure that this experience was a "once-in-a-lifetime".

...man, back in a former life, I tinted windows for a living. I must have spent literally a year of my life in that place installing window film.

:spit:

...still gives me the willies...

;)

...glad the gig turned out well!

(And no, I've NEVER left my bass at home...nope, never happened, no sir, uh uh, no way...:hiding: )

Was there a few days ago. Uggghhh!

Our Ex-Drummer came to a gig with no drum sticks. He had to play with copper tubing from our t-shirt rack. He never played so well. Notice I said, Ex? :)

Priceless!

The Villages...how many golf carts slowed ya down?...I was up in Eustis today from Lakeland.

Hey Jimmy, was that you honking the horn and swearing at my golf cart? Next time I see you Ima gonna beat yo @$$ :p

Actually, I have no idea what would attract people to live
there.

There were some pretty nice farms in the area though.

This sales guy I was working with told me that The Villages
has the highest incidence on VD anywhere in the USA
according to CDC. Is there any truth to that?

(PS PM me on the Kracker Shack in Leesburg area...)
