Forgot to check battery before gig

Confused. How are you getting power to the instrument from the pedalboard?
I made this a few weeks ago, which routes one of the PSU's outlets to the bass through a stereo cable : https://www.talkbass.com/threads/pedalboard-powered-onboard-preamp.1624372/

It's quite cheap and convenient (no changes to the instrument), and it's not like I'm going to forget my pedalboard. The bass can still operate normally with a battery inside, so there's that as a backup plan if I ever forget / break my stereo cable (or I'll just play passive).

The last time that happened to me it was with a Carvin that had a butchered battery compartment, held together by tape, hope and spite. You had to remove the tape, pry out the battery, slot in the new one (held in place by a piece of folded cardboard) and then tape it shut again.
I did all that mid song, in record time.

That Carvin went from sounding fine to dead in less than a minute.

After the set, a patron told me he never understood the role of bass in music. He guessed it must be important because every band had a bassist, but he never was able to identify what it is that they do.
My little demonstration did clearly show what people tried to explain to him time and again (without success).

I always have a couple with me and I only play passive lol. Never hurts to be prepared. Our drummer in one band has a capo, tuner pedal, slide, guitar strings, etc. just in case.

LOL Played a gig, lead guit's guit DIES, batt crapped out. :banghead: He had nothing.... Nor even a clue as to why. I usually play a passive, BUTT I keep a couple 9v in my gig bag (with those plastic covers to shield the contacts - no fires in the bag, please :rollno:). Now its a band joke - when we go out, EVERYONE reminds him. :roflmao:
