Not mentioned here yet so perhaps (undeservedly) forgotten: Rare Earth.

Many of the Motown acts from that vintage continue to get a lot of airplay, but not so much these guys. Love playing the basslines from these tunes...for example:

Chris De Burgh (he started in the 70s and is still popular around the world but mostly forgotten in North America except for The Lady In Red).

Here is a song he did in the 80s that I always liked.

Big +1 there. One of the best 70s-80s rockbands with great songwriting. Nice to see Artful dodger on here to.

I saw Michael Stanley Band in Solon High School auditorium before he had records or anything. They were flat out great! Subsequent shows were more arena affairs and good, but not as intimate as that show was.

Circus Maximus. Had a jazzy number called 'The Wind'.

From the ashes of the MC5 & The Stooges rose up:

Sonics' Rendezvous Band. One of my personal favorites. Their music is available now...mostly pub & auditorium quality recordings on CD, but Gary Rasmussen's bass playing is very good. Also Fred 'Sonic' Smith, Scott Morgan and Scott Ashton. Definitely a Motor City thing.
