Some good ones mentioned (Bloodrock, Blodwyn Pig w/ Mick Abrahams, etc).

Uriah Heep and UFO. Probably not forgotten by musicians, but the general public do not seem to know who they are.
Tony Kaye (early Yes) was also in that band.
Kaye was also in Badger.
Lotta cross-pollination back then.
Took a computer science course from the guitarist from Blue Cheer at University of San Francisco in the '70s. Our homework one week was to watch the Bob Dylan concert special on TV that he played on for the summer. Kinda cool to see your prof with a headband and backing up an icon!
